Well, I said I would get this up on Sunday, and it's now 4:17 am on Monday, but since I haven't gone to bed yet, we will just say it's still technically Sunday night. 

I decided to go with a Steam Punk theme this time around, simply because I just found some really great images in that genre over the last few days. So here are just a few of them..enjoy.

I know I said I was working on getting a weekly feature up, but with everything going on in the real world, I didn't get it done when I expected.

So the plan now is to have the weekly feature up this Sunday.

Still working on sorting my gallery and favorites sections and trying to find time between work and spring housecleaning and yard work to try to get some new art done.

Part of the spring cleaning is an attempt to clear out a spare bedroom that is currently being used as a sort of storage room/catch-all location in the hopes of being able to set up an area in there where I can actually start shooting some more stock images to be able to finally update our stock gallery again.

So much to do and so little time. Someone come help me!!!!


On a side note...does anyone actually read this stuff, and if so, does anyone who reads this actually know how to code journal css, and would you be willing to take on the job of helping me actually create a custom skin for this thing, because I have no clue how to do it myself.

Ok, so I got home from work and decided to browse through the search option for new artworks on DA to see what I could find, and I am stunned.

Can someone please explain to me just what the hell happened while I was away? Suddenly the digital art-Fantasy category is made up of 99%  crap. Seriously, how in the hell are hideously morphed versions of photographs stolen from other websites, that contain nothing but gigantically morphed  feet, boobs, asses and cocks the majority of the contributions to the "fantasy" category? And why do these things get likes in the 800-1, 500 range? I had to scroll past close to 200 of the damned things to find one single piece of work worth viewing, and by that I mean something made by someone who actually put time, thought, effort and creativity into their work. 

Between that and the (still) overwhelming run on horse manips, anime characters (and don't get me wrong, because I have nothing against well done anime or a beautiful horse), variations on my little ponies and photo of Japanese pop bands, porn stars and so on, I am not even sure how anyone with true talent manages to get noticed in this place. Thank god I have a lot of great artists are on my watch list, because otherwise I would never be able to find their work, but there are tons of other amazing artists I can't find, because their submissions are buried under a landslide of bullshit. 

Please don't get me wrong here. I am not talking about artwork done by kids, or by people like myself just learning the ins and outs of the various graphics programs, novice photographers etc. It's as annoying as scrolling through 5,000 pixelated, blurry, lopsided,  in the mirror selfies, posted as "stock" images.

Honestly...what the hell happened to the DA I remember? It used to be that sure, you saw some of this sort of stuff, but the quality art and stock outweighed the crap. Yes you did get the stolen art, stolen photo posters and the porn spammers etc., but they were not the majority. 

I guess I just expected to come back to the DA I knew back when I first started. The one full of incredible art and stock and photography that had something new and wonderful to view every time I logged in. Where did that DA go?
